My name is Gerry Speirs and I’m the person behind Foodness Gracious. I started blogging six years ago when my wife encouraged me to stop working as a bakery manager for Whole Foods Market and become a stay-at-home dad to our two kids, aged eleven and six. I thought it would be the easiest job until faced with mountain-sized piles of laundry and diaper changes. I wouldn’t change it even if I could. I often say I have the best job in the world! My background has always been in food. I grew up in Scotland and was a baker and pastry chef before moving to California sixteen years ago. I now live outside Los Angeles and have enjoyed building my blog from a hobby to a full time commitment. I cook everyday for my family and love to getting my kids involved. I’ve really seen a change in how they eat when they actually help me to cook. As much as I love to cook for my blog, one of my favorite parts is the photography. I’m completely self taught and still try to continue to learn everyday. My cooking style is simple, with so many fresh ingredients available near me I try to keep things healthy but still tasty. My favorite thing to cook would be any type of pasta dish.
